The future of animal health depends on the people willing to show up for it — students who spend their weekends at the barn instead of sleeping in, who choose 4-H over free time, and who already know that a career caring for animals is worth the work it takes to get there.

We believe that a thriving future for the industry starts with investing in passionate students who are ready to make an impact. Through the Future Leaders of Agriculture and Veterinary Science Scholarship, we're honored to help empower those dreams.

That's exactly who Vetericyn set out to find with this year's Future Leaders of Agriculture and Veterinary Science Scholarship. The program exists to give rising talent in agriculture, veterinary medicine, and animal science a boost as they head into their next chapter — and this year's applicant pool made it clear the future of the industry is in good hands.

Meet the three students earning that recognition in 2026.

Meet the 2026 Vetericyn Scholarship Winners

Morgan Kimmel

2026 Vetericyn Scholarship Winner

Morgan Kimmel's path into agriculture started the way a lot of great ones do — showing hogs at her local county fair. From there, it turned into something much bigger: she took on leadership as her 4-H club president and FFA chapter treasurer, and spent her entire senior year working full-time as a veterinary technician at a mixed animal clinic, treating everything from house pets to livestock. Showing animals has since taken her to more than sixteen states, cementing a future she's already living out. This fall, Morgan heads to Oklahoma State University to study Animal Science on the Pre-Veterinary track, with her sights set on large animal veterinary medicine — a field her rural Pennsylvania community, like so many others, needs more of as she builds a future in animal health

Ben Hocker

2026 Vetericyn Scholarship Winner

Ben Hocker built a resume in high school that's tough to top. The Westfield, Indiana native graduated as Salutatorian with a 4.57 GPA, racked up a 20-6 record playing JV singles tennis, and helped lead his Ultimate Frisbee team to a 2nd-place state finish — all while nurturing a serious Lego habit on the side (his 3,000-piece Star Wars Juggernaut build is published on Bricklink, for anyone curious). This fall, Ben heads to Purdue University to study Biology through the Pre-Veterinary Pathway, with a plan to finish his degree in three years and move straight into Purdue's College of Veterinary Medicine. His goal down the line: treat small animals in clinics and lend his skills to shelters, where the need for vets never seems to slow down.

Delaney Dutton

2026 Vetericyn Scholarship Winner

Growing up on a beef farm in Fryeburg, Maine gave Delaney Dutton an early education most people don't get until much later, if ever. She's been showing beef cattle since she was ten and just kicked off her second market hog project, building the kind of firsthand livestock experience that's hard to teach in a classroom. This fall, she'll bring that background to the University of Connecticut as an Animal Science major, focusing on nutrition, genetics, and animal welfare. Her long-term goal is straightforward: take what she learns back to New England and put it to work improving herd management for farms like the one she grew up on.
