Product Questions
Please contact us if you don't find an answer to your question here.
Can Vetericyn Plus Antimicrobial Pink Eye Spray be used on a damaged cornea?
Vetericyn Plus Antimicrobial Pink Eye Spray is a hypotonic solution and only a veterinarian can determine if it is safe to use in this application. Vetericyn Plus Antimicrobial Pink Eye Spray is intended for superficial use with an intact cornea.
Why is it significant that Vetericyn Plus products contains no antibiotics?
This is because there is no need to be concerned about the animal building up resistance to Vetericyn Plus products. Antibiotic resistance is a concern in the animal industry. The repeated and extended use of any Vetericyn Plus product in cleaning and debriding the wound bed has no adverse consequences. In addition, if there are regulatory limitations for use of antibiotics, those limitations do not apply to Vetericyn Plus products.
Can you use Vetericyn Plus Antimicrobial Pink Eye Spray after the expiration date, if so, how long after?
We recommend using Vetericyn Plus Antimicrobial Pink Eye Spray prior to the expiration date marked on the label to utilize maximum strength.
Is Vetericyn Plus Antimicrobial Pink Eye still functional if it freezes? How would you know the bottle was frozen?
Vetericyn Plus Antimicrobial Pink Eye Spray
can freeze and thaw without hurting the effectiveness of the product. If a bottle was frozen you will notice leaking as a result of expansion of the formula. The bottle walls may collapse after thawing out or evidence of ice may be noticeable within the solution.
Can Vetericyn Plus Antimicrobial Wound Care be used with another product, medicine, or therapeutic products?
It is not recommended to use an antibiotic cream or other eye ointment before applying Vetericyn Plus Antimicrobial Pink Eye Spray. There are no known contradictions. If using an additional product, wait at least 60 seconds after treatment with Vetericyn Plus Antimicrobial Pink Eye Spray.
Can Vetericyn Plus products be transferred to another bottle for application?
The transfer or decanting of Vetericyn Plus products is not recommended due to the possibility of contamination and the ingredients being neutralized by coming in contact with the new container’s materials.
Vetericyn Plus Antimicrobial Pink Eye Spray has a faint chlorine smell. When applied to an open wound, isn’t the chlorine painful to the animal?
While there is a slight chlorine odor, there is a proprietary amount of Free Active Chlorine (FAC) measured in parts per million which is not significant enough to cause stinging when applied.
