Gentle, Trusted Care for Every Animal's Eyes
Vetericyn Plus® All Animal Ophthalmic Gel is a lubricating eye care solution built on Vetericyn's hypochlorous acid technology, so it's easy on animal eyes of every kind.
- Stays put, works longer: Unlike a liquid rinse, this gel's thicker, water-based formula clings to the eye area instead of running off — so it keeps working between applications rather than needing constant reapplication.
- Veterinarian recommended, professional-grade formula: Vets trust Vetericyn Plus because it treats serious irritation without steroids or antibiotics, so there's no resistance risk from repeated use.
- One gel, safe for every animal: From a house cat's watery eye to a horse's dust-irritated eye after a trail ride, the same bottle works across species and life stages — no need to stock a different product for each animal.
For best results, pair it with Vetericyn's All Animal Eye Wash to flush away tear stains and debris before applying the gel.

Product Questions
Please contact us if you don't find an answer to your question here.
What is the difference between Vetericyn Plus Antimicrobial Eye Wash and this Ophthalmic Gel?
The Vetericyn Plus Antimicrobial Eye Wash is a liquid solution designed to flush and clean the eye while also providing relief to irritations. This Vetericyn Plus Antimicrobial All Animal Ophthalmic Gel is a more viscous, water-based gel designed to adhere to the affected area and provide additional moisture to help lubricate and reduce symptoms of severe eye irritations.
Can you use Vetericyn Plus Antimicrobial Eye Gel in the eye if the cornea is not intact?
Vetericyn Plus Antimicrobial Eye Gel should not be used if the cornea is not intact. It is a hypotonic solution and only a healthcare professional (veterinarian) can determine if it is safe to use in this application.
Can you use Vetericyn Plus Antimicrobial Eye Gel after the expiration date, if so, how long after?
We recommend using Vetericyn Plus Ophthalmic Gel before the expiration date printed on the bottle to get the full strength of the formula. Using it briefly after that date is unlikely to cause harm, but effectiveness can no longer be guaranteed, so we recommend replacing expired bottles rather than risking reduced results.
Is Vetericyn Plus Antimicrobial Eye Gel still functional if it freezes? How would you know the bottle was frozen?
If Vetericyn Plus Antimicrobial Eye Gel has frozen, it no longer maintains it effectiveness. Because of this, we always take extra precautions when shipping in below freezing temperatures. If a bottle was frozen you will notice leaking as a result of expansion of the formula. The bottle walls may collapse after thawing out or evidence of ice may be noticeable within the solution. If you believe your bottle has been frozen, please contact our Customer Service team.
Why is it significant that Vetericyn Plus products contain no antibiotics?
This is because there is no need to be concerned about the animal building up resistance to Vetericyn Plus products. Antibiotic resistance is a concern in the animal industry. The repeated and extended use of any Vetericyn Plus product in cleaning and debriding the wound bed has no adverse consequences. In addition, if there are regulatory limitations for use of antibiotics, those limitations do not apply to Vetericyn Plus products.
Vetericyn Plus Antimicrobial Ophthalmic Gel has a faint chlorine smell. Is this chlorine odor safe for use around my pet's eyes?
While there is a slight chlorine odor, it comes from a proprietary amount of Free Active Chlorine (FAC) measured in parts per million — far too low to cause stinging or discomfort around your pet's eyes.
Is Vetericyn Plus Antimicrobial Eye Gel safe if licked or ingested by my pet?
Yes. Vetericyn Plus Antimicrobial Eye Gel is non-toxic and safe if licked or ingested in small amounts during normal grooming or application. That said, it's designed for external use around the eye, so contact your veterinarian if you have any concerns about your pet's specific situation.
Are there any situations when I should stop using Vetericyn Plus Antimicrobial Ophthalmic Gel?
Yes. Discontinue use if irritation worsens or a systemic condition develops, and contact your veterinarian right away. This gel is designed for surface-level eye issues with an intact cornea. For anything more serious, your vet can help determine the right next step.
