Product Questions

Please contact us if you don't find an answer to your question here.

What is the difference between Vetericyn Plus Antimicrobial Eye Rinse and the Pet Eye Gel?

The Vetericyn Plus Antimicrobial Eye Wash is a liquid solution designed to flush and clean the eye while also providing relieve to irritations. The Vetericyn Plus Antimicrobial Pet Eye Gel is a more viscous, water-based gel designed to adhere to the affected area and provide additional moisture to help reduce symptoms of severe eye irritations.

Can you use Vetericyn Plus Antimicrobial Eye Gel in the eye if the cornea is not intact?

Vetericyn Plus Antimicrobial Eye Gel should not be used if the cornea is not intact. It is a hypotonic solution and only a healthcare professional (veterinarian) can determine if it is safe to use in this application.

Can you use Vetericyn Plus Antimicrobial Eye Gel after the expiration date, if so, how long after?

We recommend using your product prior to the expiration date marked on the label to utilize maximum strength.

Is Vetericyn Plus Antimicrobial Eye Gel still functional if it freezes? How would you know the bottle was frozen?

If Vetericyn Plus Antimicrobial Eye Gel has frozen, it no longer maintains it effectiveness. Because of this, we always take extra precautions when shipping in below freezing temperatures. If a bottle was frozen you will notice leaking as a result of expansion of the formula. The bottle walls may collapse after thawing out or evidence of ice may be noticeable within the solution. If you believe your bottle has been frozen, please contact our Customer Service team.

Why is it significant that Vetericyn Plus products contains no antibiotics?

This is because there is no need to be concerned about the animal building up resistance to Vetericyn Plus products. Antibiotic resistance is a concern in the animal industry. The repeated and extended use of any Vetericyn Plus product in cleaning and debriding the wound bed has no adverse consequences. In addition, if there are regulatory limitations for use of antibiotics, those limitations do not apply to Vetericyn Plus products.

Vetericyn Plus Antimicrobial Eye Gel has a faint chlorine smell. When applied to an open wound, isn’t the chlorine painful to the animal?

While there is a slight chlorine odor, there is a proprietary amount of Free Active Chlorine (FAC) measured in parts per million which is not significant enough to cause stinging when applied.
