Vetericyn aims to continue bettering the lives of animals by contributing to the industry's future. We believe in supporting those who are looking to pursue careers in animal sciences, agriculture, and veterinary medicine.
Every year, the Vetericyn team selects two high school graduates who intend to pursue higher education in agriculture, animal health, or veterinary sciences.
We are happy to announce that this year we were able to award two $2,000 scholarships to individuals that we believe will truly impact this industry. Our team at Vetericyn went through an extensive selection process from a pool of outstanding applicants and is excited to announce our 2023 selected students.
After careful consideration (and a lot of internal back-and-forth due to so many great entries), our team at Vetericyn has selected two standout winners! We are proud to announce that this year’s scholarship award winners are Ashlynn Kidwell and Baylor Montgomery.
Ashlynn Kidwell
2023 Vetericyn Scholarship Winner
Ashlynn Kidwell is an accomplished senior from Sykesville, Maryland, who has successfully completed programs in Animal Sciences at Century High School and Biomedical Sciences at the Carroll County Career and Technology Center. Her passion for community involvement shines through her active participation in 4-H, Girl Scouts, Farm Bureau, and the National Wild Turkey Federation. Ashlynn has held leadership roles at the local, state, national, and even international levels, and she is working towards earning the prestigious 4-H Diamond Clover Award. She has also earned the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest honor in both organizations.
Ashlynn enjoys outdoor activities such as hunting, hiking, and camping. Driven by her love for animals and the environment, she is excited to pursue a degree at the University of Maryland’s College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, where she has been accepted into the University Honors Program. This scholarship will provide invaluable support as she continues her education and works toward achieving her career aspirations.
Baylor Montgomery
2025 Vetericyn Scholarship Winner
Baylor Montgomery from Brookfield, Missouri is no stranger to staying busy! Throughout his high school years, he has been an active member of FFA, FBLA, B-Club, NHS, and the Varsity Men’s Golf Team. Baylor has served as an officer in his FFA chapter for three years and has been involved in FFA activities at both the local and national levels. His Supervised Agricultural Experience includes managing his own cow/calf operation, working at his family’s veterinary clinic, and assisting local farmers.
Baylor is also a member of several beef cattle organizations and enjoys showing cattle. He actively serves his community through volunteer work and is a member of the Brookfield Church of Christ. Baylor will graduate from Brookfield High School in 2023 and plans to attend the University of Missouri-Columbia in the fall, where he will major in Animal Science and Agribusiness. His long-term goal is to attend the Mizzou College of Veterinary Medicine and become a mixed animal veterinarian.
